Internal reports of the WHO MONICA Project

In the WHO MONICA Project, cardiovascular diseases, their risk factors and medical care were monitored in 32 MONICA Collaboration Centres in 21 countries. Besides establishing the capture of high quality data in a standardized fashion, MONICA allowed for the interpretation of differences in local data collection in different cultures, medical care systems and different languages. To facilitate this, the Project had an extensive standardization and quality control system. A part of the system were retrospective Quality Assessment Reports, which evaluated the outcome of the standardization and the data quality in each Centre. The reports were part of the mutual communication system for the standardization and data quality within the Project, and they provided material for the publications on the results and methodology of the Project. Initially they were accessible for the MONICA Centres only. However, when the data collection had been completed, the Principal Investigators decided to publish the final versions which covered the full MONICA data collection period (see WWW-publications from the WHO MONICA Project).

The list below includes the intermediate internal reports, which also provided the basis for the final published versions. Nearly all of these internal reports are now also publicly available in the CD-ROMs of the MONICA Monograph and Multimedia Sourcebook. For these, a hyperlink to the WWW-copy of the CD-ROMs is given.
