MONICA Collaborating Centres (MCC)
The MCCs collected the study data in the study populations
and also take part in the collaborative data analysis through individual
representation in the Manuscript Groups. The following conditions were essential
for recruitment, continuing participation and quality assurance of individual
centres:
- Centres should have recognized epidemiological experience, or they should
be supported, backed or assisted by a centre with documented experience.
- Centres should maintain standardization in accordance with the criteria
established by the MONICA Steering Committee (MSC) for lipid measurements, ECG coding, and
event registration, and for any other techniques determined by the MSC.
- Centres should comply with the data collection procedures and rules given
in the MONICA Manual.
- any variation in procedures and any difficulties in adhering to the
Protocol must be discussed with the MONICA Management Centre (MMC).
- Centres should provide data at the frequency and in the format specified
in the Manual or required by the MONICA Data Centre (MDC), MMC and the
MSC.
- Centres should accept visits from groups of experts sent by the MMC and
the MSC to review their data and procedures, and encourage exchange of
information and problem sharing.
The MCCs and their current Principal Investigators are listed in the
MONICA
Manual. Former Principal Investigators and other key personnel are given in
the List of
Sites and Key Personnel. The MONICA Monograph and Multimedia
Sourcebook includes a description of the MCCs and the
study populations.
