The MORGAM Project

The MORGAM (MOnica Risk, Genetics, Archiving and Monograph) Project is a multinational collaborative study to explore the relationships between the development of cardiovascular diseases, their classic and genetic risk factors and biomarkers. This is done through follow-up of cohorts examined in the MONICA risk factor surveys and other studies. A European risk factor score for coronary heart disease and stroke will be derived. As many of the participating centres have collected DNA in their surveys, gene-environment interactions can be assessed in a large case-cohort study. The genetic study is open for more cohorts to join.

The MORGAM Project is part of GenomEUtwin, a Network of Excellence for Genomics in Europe.
