Cardiovascular disease database provides detailed data on the occurrence of coronary heart disease in Finland. This database is based on registers collected for administrative purposes. Even though administrative data in Finland are very reliable, it has not been collected in a scientific manner. In addition to true changes in coronary heart disease morbidity, the changes in treatment practices and diagnostic criteria may also affect the number of acute coronary events.
