The research conducted at this department focuses on national diseases and functional capacity and their background factors, as well as on areas promoting the improvement of health monitoring.
Our responsibility is to ensure that health monitoring research provides the necessary information about the health of the population and that it is distributed to those who need it. To this end, we develop health monitoring in Finland and participate in this task at the European level.
Critical success factors for the realisation of our strategy include:
·the provision of information significant to public health;
·the promotion of health by influencing people’s decisions;
·the improvement and maintenance of health monitoring; and
·the anticipation of public health and health care needs.
To reach these goals, our department conducts research on national diseases and functional capacity, participates in national health monitoring, supports health-promoting decisions in society by, for example, distributing information, and participates in national and international cooperation.
