Health monitoring comprises also research to develop monitoring, the development of the monitoring system and the planning and preparation of health reports and other products. During 2004, we will start implementing the recommendations of the Information 2005 working group. We are currently engaging in the analysis of the Health 2000 survey results. For several years now, we have been participating in the EU health-monitoring programme.
Development of health monitoring
During 2004, we will further develop national health monitoring and implement related solutions according to the recommendations of the Information 2005 project. Together with the Department of Epidemiology and Health Promotion, we are working to turn the National Public Health Institute’s population survey into a comprehensive whole. We are also continuing to forecast the population’s future health and need for care.
‘The Health in Finland books
During 2004, we will publish the next edition of The Health in Finland book and start preparing a subsequent book, to be published in English, on the health of the Finns and related development trends.
International monitoring
We participate in various research and development projects of the EU health-monitoring programme and the public health programmed and also in the activities of the Eurostat health survey task force. We also participate in the cooperation activities of NOMESCO, OECD and the WHO.
