Cancer Prevention Unit

The Cancer Prevention Unit investigates risk factors and prevention of major chronic diseases. The research is based on extensive questionnaire and interview data and biological samples collected in the ATBC study ( n= 29 133 ), a controlled trial to determine whether alpha-tocopherol or beta-carotene supplementation reduce the risk of cancer. The ATBC study is a joint project between the National Public Health Institute of Finland and the National Cancer Institute of the United States ( NCI).
