The Unit contributes to developing international health
monitoring. As a part of it, the Unit is or has been the
coordinator of two European Union projects:
- European Health Risk
MonitoringProject was conducted in years 1999-2000 within the
European Union
Programme of Community Action on Health Monitoring. The Project
produced a recommendation for indicators, international
collaboration, protocol and manual of operations for chronic
disease risk factor surveys. The primary purpose of such surveys is
to gather information for the planning and evaluation of health
promotion and disease prevention in the countries and at European
level. The Project was conducted in collaboration with the European
Union, the World Health Organization and national experts in
different countries. More information on the Project and its
results can be found at http://www.ktl.fi/ehrm/.
-
Feasibility of a European Health Examination Survey Project
will be conducted in years 2006-2008 within the
European Union Programme of Community Action in the Field of Public
Health. The purpose of the Project is to assess the feasibility
of conducting a health examination survey in all EU Member States.
The Project will review the scope, contents, methods and cost of
the surveys that have already been conducted, and assess the
perceived interest and possible plans of the Members States to such
surveys in the future. Based on this and other available
information, the Project will make proposals for models of surveys
for comparable information from all Member States. More information
on the Project and its results can be found at http://www.ktl.fi/fehes/.
