This department studies the characteristics of health-threatening bacteria and viruses, particularly the mechanisms by which they cause disease in individuals and epidemics in demographic groups. With its expertise, our department supports the detection and monitoring of infectious diseases and facilitates preventive activities within the health care system and other administrative sectors.
