• the contents of file "/slideshow/ppview97.exe" of Part 1, for which the copyright is owned by Microsoft Corporation.
• the documents in Part 1 which have been published earlier in the world wide web. These can be identified with the URL and URN in the title page, and they have separate copyright statements.
• articles enclosed in some of the MONICA Memos in Part 2, where the copyright belongs elsewhere. This applies firstly to previously published descriptions of laboratory methods circulated for information, and secondly to draft manuscripts that were being circulated for approval and were later published, after amendments, in scientific journals, whose publishers own copyright of the final versions.
