Graphics by Hanna Tolonen and Hugh Tunstall-Pedoe, commentaries by Hugh Tunstall-Pedoe
Here are slide presentations of the graphics from section #89 of the MONICA Monograph and Multimedia Sourcebook. You can run the slide shows if you have a Microsoft Windows operating system and a PowerPoint 97 Viewer, PowerPoint 97 or PowerPoint 2000 program installed on your computer. If you have a Microsoft Windows operating system but you do not have any of these programs, you can install the free PowerPoint Viewer from this CD-ROM. You will find the installation instructions in this hyperlink.
If you do not have a sound card and speakers, or earphones, with your personal computer (PC) you will not be able to hear the commentaries. The ‘All slides’ file is a compilation of slides of all the graphics without any sound added.
Adding sound in the form of commentaries increased the size of the PowerPoint files very considerably. Because they are so large the different presentations have been broken into sections so that they load reasonably quickly. Even so, you may find that the narrated slide presentations run much better from the hard disk of your computer than from this CD-ROM. To accomplish this, you need to copy the contents of the directory slideshow to your hard disk.
The timings of each part of each presentation given below are when the slide show is left to run automatically. The commentary can be cut short on any single slide by left-clicking the mouse, which takes you to the next slide. You can also interrupt or navigate within the slide show at any time by right-clicking your mouse and choosing the appropriate option.
