 INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING EXTENDED ABSTRACTS
The proceedings of SYTTY 2, The mid-term symposium of the Finnish Research Programme on Environmental Health, will be published.  All SYTTY financed projects are requested to submit an extended abstract (including an abstract written in Finnish), which is an essential part of The annual report 1999. The most important scientific results and their potential application should be indicated.

TIIVISTELMÄ
Hankkeesta kirjoitetaan n. 200-250 sanan tiivistelmä suomeksi. Tiivistelmässä tuodaan esille hankkeesta saadut keskeisimmät tulokset sekä niiden hyödynnettävyys.

EXTENDED ABSTRACT
The maximum length of the extended abstracts is five pages (including information of co-operation and publications). The text should be written in English, single spaced with Times Roman, font size 12. Paragraphs should be separated by a double spacing.

Extended abstract should cover the following:
1 Introduction
2 Methods
3 Results and Discussion
4 Conclusions
5 Co-operation (see instructions below)
6 Publications (see instructions below)

Co-operation: Collaborators within Finland and abroad.

Publications: scientific publications produced within this SYTTY project. Indicate a complete literature reference with all authors. Articles in press or accepted for publication should also be included. Abstracts are not reported.
Indicate: Author(s), year, title, media (journal name etc.), vol, pages.

Example: Vartiainen T., Kartovaara L. and Tuomisto J. 1999. Environmental chemicals and changes in sex ratio: Analysis over 250 years in Finland. Environ. Health. Perspect. 107, 813-815. 

Publications are to be classified into the following categories:
1. Articles in international scientific journals
2. Articles in international scientific compilation works and international scientific conference proceedings (includes extended abstracts)
3. Articles in Finnish (language) journals
4. Articles in Finnish scientific compilation works and Finnish scientific conference proceedings
5. Scientific monographs
6. Other scientific publications, such as articles in scientific non-refereed journals and publications in university and institute series
