Ethical issues and surveillance of the study
The study conforms to the Helsinki Declaration of the World Medical Association. At the first visit, written informed consent was obtained from each patient. Additional informed consent was obtained for permission to be included in the qualitative part of the study. The protocol was checked and found to be in accordance with the appropriate regulations and approved by the Helsinki University Central Hospital's ethics council. To guarantee patient safety an independent Data and Safety Monitoring Committee was founded. The study personnel follow the law of Human Participant Protection when monitoring and reporting patient data.
